Jack Bailey: President Obama is Wrong on Immigration
7/12/2010Franklin, TN – (July 12, 2010) Republican candidate for Tennessee’s 4th Congressional District, Jack Bailey, made the following statement in response to the lawsuit filed against the state of Arizona:
“The crime of illegal immigration affects our economy, our national security, and our sovereignty. President Obama has an immediate reaction to sue instead of handling the problem and protecting our nation. This Administration is more willing to file a lawsuit against the state of Arizona for following the law, than to penalize anyone breaking the law.
“President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Lincoln Davis have failed to address the crime of illegal immigration. Our federal government is obsessed with assuming unconstitutional powers, while neglecting one of its main responsibilities: the security of the American people. We can’t expect to solve the problem by sending the same old people up there to do the same old thing.”
Today, Jack Bailey announced his plan to deal with illegal immigration.
• Secure the border through a fence and National Guard troops.
• End the practice of birth right citizenship. For too long we have allowed illegal aliens to take advantage of the system.
• Eliminate incentives for illegal aliens. I support a ban ending all taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens.
• Empower local law enforcement through programs like 287(g) to enforce the federal immigration laws.
• Use programs such as E-verify to help employers know if they are hiring illegal aliens, and hold them accountable when they knowingly do so.
• Detain and deport those caught here illegally.
Jack Bailey is a small business owner, husband of 18 years to his wife Nancy, and father of six young children. Jack enrolled in the Army National Guard at age 17, and is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Covenant Theological Seminary. Jack and his family are active members in their church, where Jack has served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. The Baileys live in Franklin.
